Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the HERide driver app. Driving for HERide means giving us more than a rider gives us — this page says exactly what, and when.

Effective August 18, 2026 · Last updated August 18, 2026

The short version

This is the privacy policy for the HERide driver app. Driving for HERide means giving us more than a rider gives us — your documents, your screening, your payout identity, and your location while you are online. This page says exactly what that means. The full HERide privacy policy at getheride.com/privacy controls if the two ever differ.

Location — the honest version

Background location, and when it runs

The driver app collects your location in the background. This is the biggest privacy cost of driving for HERide, so here is exactly when it happens.

The app also reads motion activity — whether you are driving, walking, or stationary — so it can keep your trip status accurate and pause location updates to save battery when you are not moving. You can revoke location or motion access in your phone's settings at any time; without background location you will not be able to take trips while the app is off screen.

What we collect

Your account and identity
Name, mobile number, email, profile photo, city, and date of birth. Because HERide is a rideshare for women, we record gender on driver accounts and use it to enforce that every driver on the platform is a woman.
Screening information
Your date of birth, address history, driver's license details, and Social Security number, collected so we can order a background check. See the background check section below.
Documents and vehicle records
Driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance, vehicle photos including the plate, and dated inspection photos. We keep these to confirm the car on the road is the car we approved, and to meet Georgia's rideshare requirements.
Signed agreements
Your contractor agreement and consent forms, signed electronically. We keep the signed document, the time it was signed, and the audit trail our e-signature provider generates.
Trips and earnings
Trips offered, accepted, declined, and completed; routes, times, distance, and waiting time; fares and their parts; your earnings, our commission, tips, tolls, and airport or zone fees; cancellations; and the ratings and comments riders leave you.
Payouts and banking
Your payouts run through Stripe Connect. Stripe collects and verifies your identity, which may include a government ID and a short identity video, and holds your bank account details. HERide receives the pass or fail result and your account status — not your ID document and not your bank credentials. We keep your payout history, wallet balance, and ledger entries.
HERVerify photo
A live selfie taken with the front camera when you go online, stored as a record that you were the person driving. It is deleted within 24 hours. It is not face recognition — see “HERVerify photos” below.
Messages and calls
In-app chat with your rider and with support, and the metadata of masked calls and texts. Masked calling means neither you nor the rider sees the other's real number. We do not record driver-to-rider calls.
Your device
Device model and operating system, app version, language, IP address, a device identifier, your push notification token, and crash and diagnostic reports.
How you use the app
Going online and offline, offers received and how you responded, screens viewed, and key actions — tied to your driver account so we can tell a real problem from a rare one, and so we can see whether dispatch is working.

Background checks

We order your background check through a consumer reporting agency. We ask for your written consent first, separately from your application, and we cannot run the check without it.

HERVerify photos

When you go online, the app asks you to take a live selfie with the front camera. We store it as a record that you were the person driving that day.

HERVerify is not face recognition

We do not create a face template, do not run face matching, and do not compare your photo against any database — ours or anyone else's. There is no pass or fail. Earlier versions of the driver app used face matching; that was removed in August 2026.

Teen trips and the cabin camera

Where HERide offers teen accounts, a trip for a teen rider includes a live view for that teen's guardian. If you accept a teen trip, your phone's front camera and microphone stream live video and audio from the car cabin to the guardian, through a time-limited link only the guardian can open.

What riders and others see about you

Your rider
Your first name, your photo, your rating, your vehicle, and your plate before you arrive, plus your live location as you approach. She does not see your phone number, your last name, your address, your documents, your screening, or your earnings.
HERide staff and dispatchers
Our operations, support, and dispatch teams can see your account, your documents, your compliance status, your live position while you are online, and your trip and earnings history — because that is what running dispatch, support, and payouts requires. Access is role-restricted and administrative actions are logged.
Corporate customers
An organization that paid for a trip sees the trip and the driver's first name. It does not get your documents, your screening, your contact details, or your earnings.

Who we share with

We do not sell your personal information

We have not sold it and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your driving data, your location history, or your screening data for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your choices

Location and motion
Controlled in your phone's settings, and by going offline in the app. Going offline is the switch that matters day to day — it stops background collection without touching your phone settings.
Camera, photos, microphone
All optional at the device level and all revocable. HERVerify and document upload need the camera; in-app calling needs the microphone; teen trips need camera and microphone while streaming.
Notifications
Turn off push in your phone's settings. Be aware that trip offers arrive by push — turning them off means you will miss work. Marketing email can be managed separately at getheride.com/preferences.
Your details
Update your name, email, and photo in the app, and change your mobile number in account settings with a verification step. Documents are updated through the app or the driver portal.
Deleting your account
Request it in the app or email privacy@getheride.com. We will confirm it is you, then delete what we are not legally required to keep. Trip, earnings, tax, and screening records generally have to stay for the periods above.

Your rights

Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to: tell you what we hold about you and how we use it; give you a copy; correct anything wrong; delete your account; and limit how we use sensitive information such as precise location and the photos you take in the app. We use sensitive information only to run and protect the service and to meet legal obligations, never to infer things about you.

You also have rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act over the background reports we order, including the right to a copy and the right to dispute what is in one. Contact the consumer reporting agency named on the report, and tell us too.

Email privacy@getheride.com. We will verify your identity against your account, respond within 45 days, and tell you if we need longer. Asking will never affect your trip offers, your rating, or your standing on the platform.
